Greenplinth Africa Conference (Mar 3-5, 2026, Lagos) focused on "Decarbonising Africa." Key highlight: MOA and M0U signed between Benue & Niger States & Greenplinth for clean energy solutions. Agreements include 2M cookstoves & household support, aiming for sustainable growth.
The 2026 edition of the Greenplinth Africa Green Conference, with the theme 'DECARBONISING AFRICA: Pathway to Climate Finance, Sustainable Growth and Green Economy," started on Tuesday 3rd March and ended on Thursday 5th March, 2026 at Sheraton Hotel in Lagos.
One of the best highlights of the event was the epochal signing of Memorandum of Agreements, first between Benue State Government and Greenplinth, and later with Niger State Government.
Details
of the MoA are:
· * Deployment of two Million cook stoves to two million beneficiaries in each of the states at no single cost to them;
* aard of N10,000 to every benefiting household;
· * Free health insurance through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS);
· * Planting of 100 million trees across the local government areas in the two States to mitigate deforestation and help create long-term income stability;
· * to create 13,000 green jobs, especially for the women and everyone willing to key in into the project in all the partnering states.
* Recipients will also receive two stainless steel pots.
Agreement signed with Benue State Government
It was yet another laudable effort on the part of Greenplinth Africa to collaborate with the Presidency through the National Council on Climate Change, the Lagos State Government, Benue State Government, Niger State Government, Kebbi State Government, Enugu State Government, Nasarawa State Government, LAMATA, Carbon Ai, Carbon Registry, Natural Eco Capital LAPO, All Green Energy, and Vigilini Capital Group.
Signing the Agreements, Dr. Olawale Akinwunmi, President of Greenplinth Africa was supported by Alhaji Usman Besse, Director of Northern Operations for Greenplinth Africa signed on behalf of the company, while the Benue State team led by Mr Donald Aarkwagh Akule, Managing Director of Benue State Agricultural Development Company (BSADC) and the state's Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Justice ( who represented the State's Attorney General} signed on behalf of Benue State. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Daniel Mailumo, Director General, Benue State Council on Climate Change.
For Niger State, the MoA signing was led by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Abubakar Musa and Director General, Niger State Agency for Green Economy Initiatives, Dr. Daniel Habila Galadima.
